What is PRAKTIKAI?
PRAKTIKAI is a new type of consultancy that drives value in businesses through data and artificial intelligence, without the hype. Our name is based on the Greek word for practicality or putting things into practice, and our approach is grounded in the same. AI is in our name, but we are a full services consultancy with offerings spanning advisory services in artificial intelligence strategy to hands-on machine learning, data analytics, and business intelligence delivery.
It’s “Praktikai”, not “Praktik AI”.
There’s enough “AI” out there right now: startups, companies, advisories, platforms, apps, products… we are a company that does “AI”, not an AI company.
The areas of AI we know and see applied today, some new and developing rapidly like large language models, others existing for years or even decades but now wrapped under the same umbrella term (e.g. advanced analytics, statistical modeling, machine learning, etc.) is only part of what we do - while we continue to ride the rollercoaster of the hype cycle of GenAI, these other disciplines and practice of “traditional AI” continue to be just as important as ever to understand modern business problems, build product, inform decisions, and drive value.
There are exciting use cases for GenAI - but the first questions should always be:
- What are you trying to do?
- Do you “need” GenAI, LLMs, or even regular machine learning?
- Where’s the value?
What makes us different?
If the name of the company and the above don’t make it clear, Praktikai’s differentiator is our pragmatism and no-nonsense approach.
There’s no need to use complex language and jargon when plain language will suffice. Hyper-optimized code and incredibly accurate models are not valuable if they come at the expense of being interpretable and communicated effectively.
Don’t be clever, be clear. Never complexity for complexity’s sake. Work should be able to be explained in everyday terms, no matter how technical the underlying details may be.
Relationships first. Authenticity above all else.
It’s tempting to think that the business of consulting is advising on or implementing a particular new technology or tool, or methodology, or technique. It’s not. First and foremost, it’s not even about the subject matter or industry vertical or business problem.
Doing good consulting work is about relationships. The most important thing in any of the work we do is the people. PRAKTIKAI is about connecting with the right smart, driven individuals in industry, understanding their business problems, and working together to solve them.
Work isn’t about closing a sale or drawing a paycheque. It’s about the mutually beneficial exchange of value, either by creating product, improving existing processes, or developing solutions and learning along the way.
